 Introduction: Bidhan Chandra Institution for Girls was established in 1976 in the heart of an industry oriented city Durgapur. The promising students coming from Madhyamik / ICSE / CBSE level usually seek pleasure to study here and undoubtedly become keen for career building. This Institution can demand itself as an ideal from this point of view. It has made an illustrious arrangement for those budding talents to come out successful. This Institution is dedicated to impart education to the students of XI and XII classes both in English and Bengali version. The school has started the secondary section from classes V to VIII this year. The school is enrolled under the National Scholarship Portal. Students can also apply for Swami Vivekananda menit-cum-means scholarship.

 Syllabus: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has introduced a common core syllabus as per Central Government Guidelines (National Syllabus frame work 2005). Project works have been brought in to develop the thinking ability, organizing and proper presentation skills of our students. In question pattern too some basic changes have been made. Questions are divided into knowledge based Multiple Choice Type, Information based Short Answer Type & Analytical Descriptive Questions. This paradigm has been necessitated because of the education scenario of our country, so that the students can compete in every sphere all over India. b) The Syllabus for the Secondary Section is as per council guidelines.

 Library cum Reading Complex: This institution boasts of modern library furnished adequately to accommodate about 60 students at a time in its reading hall. It has a good collection of books and a commendable collection of reference books both in Bengali and English.

 Laboratory: Here is the arrangement for separate laboratories of Physics / Nut. Chemistry, Biology, Geography & Computer and the laboratories have, gas plant exhaust fans and all necessary equipment, articles and chemicals required for smooth laboratory work.

 Registration: All students must complete their registration formalities of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education for appearing in H.S. Examination.

 Academic Performance: The academic performance of the students is brilliant. Our students have been securing rank every year in the board exam organised by W.B.C.H.S.E. Students with excellent academic records are awarded.
